Many users facing the same problem have claimed to fix the issue by disabling the Windows Defender Firewall. It would be lovely with a Telegram native setting, but since they've marked the old client as legacy this will most likely not happen.Windows Defender Firewall blocking the connection to Telegram’s server is another prominent reason for Telegram Web Not Working. Not a super elegant solution, but it works. This will redirect all WebZ and WebK URLs to the front page of the legacy client. Then create a filter for the WebZ client as such:Īnd do the same with the WebK client, just replace the Z in the URL above with a lower case K. This addon is available for both Firefox and Chrome-based browsers. One workaround that I've set up is to use the Redirector addon. I just want a basic and responsive chat client to communicate with friends, all the fancy-schmancy animations and looks that the new UI bring only worsen the experience for me personally :) It feels too slow and is too wide for my use compared to the legacy client, and when I try to limit the width of the website via addons it breaks several elements of the new UI. I really dislike the new Telegram UI myself. Is there any way to permanently change to the classic version without using the ?legacy=1 parameter?

And it happens on both my devices, my laptop and my desktop computer. I've deleted cookies and website data, but it still directs to one of the new versions, so I think it's saved on the server. When I enter "" into my browsers (Chromium) address bar, it always directs to Telegram k or z, whichever I used last. But when I choose "Switch to old version" in the menu it is not permanent. So I'd like to change to the old version thats perfectly fine In half a browser window and makes the most of available screen real estate ( screenshot).

With /z/ the chat window is cut in half, so I can't see the full messages ( screenshot) and with /k/ the contact window is not visible (. With old this was fine, because the contact list and the chats fit into that half browser window. I often have a browser window fit to one half of my laptop's screen and another window on the other half. The new features are not relevant for my use case and my main problem is: it's too big. I'm using Telegram Web a lot and out of curiosity I've switched to Telegram K and Telegram Z, but I don't like them and don't see need for it.
